The Surgical National Antimicrobial Prescribing Survey (Surgical NAPS) is an online auditing tool that facilitates the reporting of antimicrobial use in surgical and non-surgical procedures performed in Australian hospitals each year. The 2014 Hospital NAPS showed that surgical prophylaxis accounted for 13% of all antimicrobial prescribing in Australian hospitals, of which 40% was inappropriate.
