World Sepsis Day is held annually on 13 September and is an initiative of the Global Sepsis Alliance. Each year events are held worldwide to raise awareness about sepsis. Sepsis claims eleven million lives globally each year with more than 8500 of those in Australia.

Initially planned to be held at the University of Auckland, it is now scheduled to be held as a virtual meeting.
