Clean Hospitals Day 20 October 2024

October 21, 2024 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm UTC+8

This annual event shines a spotlight on the critical importance of healthcare environmental hygiene (HEH) in reducing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), protecting patients, and ensuring the safety of healthcare workers.

This year’s theme, “The 6 Technical Domains of Healthcare Environmental Hygiene,” emphasizes key areas essential to effective infection prevention, including:

  • Surfaces
  • Air control
  • Water control
  • Device reprocessing & sterilization
  • Laundry
  • Waste management

These six domains are pivotal to enhancing patient safety, improving outcomes, and creating a healthier environment within healthcare facilities worldwide.

Why Participate? HAIs pose a significant challenge, with pathogens such as MRSA, VRE, norovirus, C. difficile, Candida auris and Acinetobacter spp. being often transmitted via the healthcare environment. By raising awareness and improving practices in HEH, we can significantly reduce infection rates, save lives, and optimize healthcare resources.

Participation in Clean Hospitals Day means:

  • Supporting safer environments for patients and healthcare staff.
  • Advocating for better hygiene practices in healthcare settings.
  • Contributing to improved healthcare outcomes globally.
