SUMMARY:Clean Hospitals Day 20 October 2024
DESCRIPTION:This annual event shines a spotlight on the critical importance of healthcare environmental hygiene (HEH) in reducing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs)\, protecting patients\, and ensuring the safety of healthcare workers. \nThis year’s theme\, “The 6 Technical Domains of Healthcare Environmental Hygiene\,” emphasizes key areas essential to effective infection prevention\, including: \n\nSurfaces\nAir control\nWater control\nDevice reprocessing & sterilization\nLaundry\nWaste management\n\nThese six domains are pivotal to enhancing patient safety\, improving outcomes\, and creating a healthier environment within healthcare facilities worldwide. \n Why Participate? HAIs pose a significant challenge\, with pathogens such as MRSA\, VRE\, norovirus\, C. difficile\, Candida auris and Acinetobacter spp. being often transmitted via the healthcare environment. By raising awareness and improving practices in HEH\, we can significantly reduce infection rates\, save lives\, and optimize healthcare resources. \nParticipation in Clean Hospitals Day means: \n\nSupporting safer environments for patients and healthcare staff.\nAdvocating for better hygiene practices in healthcare settings.\nContributing to improved healthcare outcomes globally.\n\nAdvocacy toolkit \nYou are encouraged to explore our Promotional Toolkit\, available here : https://cleanhospitals.com/promotional-toolkit-2024/\, which includes posters\, screensavers\, and social media resources to help spread the message. \nAdditionally\, the Healthcare Environmental Hygiene Self-Assessment Framework (HEHSAF) tool can support healthcare facilities in evaluating and improving its HEH programs. You can access it in here https://cleanhospitals.com/hehsaf/. \nParticipate in Clean Hospitals Day by raising awareness in your network and sharing our Promotional Toolkit and the materials \nA Collaborative Effort \nClean Hospitals is proud to partner with the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC – https://apic.org) during International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) from October 13–19\, themed “Moving the Needle on Infection Prevention.” (https://infectionpreventionandyou.org/iipw/) . Together\, we will raise awareness on key areas such as healthcare worker safety and patient care.
